I currently have a loud and hot hhd i was thinking about upgrading it, but the problem is i have no idea how to tranfers my old hard drive to the new old.

any help would be appreciated

thanks

The HDD mfg's website should have the necessary tool(s). Most of us use ghost to clone drives.

thanks for the reply i'm planning on getting http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822148065 I went to the Manufacturer's Site and clicked on the Installation Guide. It only show you how to attach everything. Nothing about how to trasfer old hhd to the new..

when you say Most of us use ghost to clone drives, does discwizard count as a clone software or do i need to buy a clone software?

thanks

I bought that exact drive several months ago. It's quiet, fast, runs cool, and has the wonderful 5 yr. warranty. 🙂

What brand is your current hard drive?

i don't really know my current hhd. did u download the discwizard from the site or is it not nesscesary? i guess i'll have to buy nortaon ghost 2003

Wow nice deal! I got my 160GB Seagate half a year ago for about that price...

Anyways if I ever were to get a new hard drive, I'd probably just back up everything I needed and do a clean installation on the new drive.

Unless that program used a bootable floppy/cdrom you'll have to have the HD with the OS set as master.

yeah i got a verison of norton ghost 9.0 that is bootable cdrom.
Does that mean i don't need to do the master/slave stuff?

well one will have to be master and the other will have to be slave, but since you don't have to run the program from windows it shouldn't matter which is which.

Edit: unless the program specifically says otherwise.
