How to repel cats?

Just keep in mid that cats are territorial. If its a female cat its better to have it around than a couple of male cats that stink the place up with spray. Maybe get one of those scarecrow motion activated spriklers off amazon.

Taking it to a shelter somewhere else is just irresponsible and cruel on your part. A better idea would be to go to that same shelter, and get a large enough dog to take care of the problem. Its an arms race.

Makes me angry enought to want to poison it and kill it, but the wife is my conscience right now, so need a way to keep it from coming around.

Ideas?
if u do that u can get arrested
Technicality.

My sister's cat was attacked and killed by two pitt bulls wandering the neighborhood. They found the owner of the dog, and nothing happened to them (first offense).

So far I like the dying and shaving idea and the one where you establish dominance over the cat.

Now I have 2 cats crapping right outside my door. WTF?!?!

Went to OSH and bought some cat repellant... they had two kinds, one with, one without dried blood, I'm trying the non-blood one. Have to clean up the mess first before I apply this stuff.

I think they are the neighbors cats... if and when I find out which neigbors, I'm gonna take a huge dump outside their front door.

And I can't take it in and make it a pet, I have 3 birds in the house which I love.

Do your birds fly free all the time, or do they live in cages? We have two cats and a parakeet. Maybe once or twice a month, one of the cats with put his paws on the cage, but they've never knocked it over or hurt him or anything like that.

Throw some peppery spices outside. Gets them everytime.

He's right.

Get a cheap bottle of powdered cayenne pepper, and sprinkle a ton all over the ground. If they don't stay away from the scent alone, they'll walk on it, and the next time they clean themselves they will be getting cayenne in their mouth.

If you have two cats doing this now, it sounds like they're picking up an ammonia (high ph) scent at that location. You could try washing it with vinegar (low ph) to neutralize the attractive odor and deter future use of the area.

try a glass jar with water in it. supposedly they see thier reflection and whatever. dont know if it actually works?

Unless its warm water, and they stick their paw in it...

That cat has marked its territory and will keep returning.

You need to show it who's boss. Basically, you need a larger cat to take over it's territory. Get a lion, or tiger. Alternatively, lion/tiger dung liberally applied around your house should be equally effective and require less maintenance/licencing.

When we're home, the birds are out and have free reign...

If the repellant doesn't work, I think I'll try the spice suggestions.

Happy to report the cat repellant from OSH seems to be doing the trick, every couple of days I sprinkle some repellant and after a week, no cat poop by my door.

No cats were harmed in the application of this repellant.

Whats OSH?

set up a sprinkler to turn on whenever it detects a cat. Simple, yet effective. Or just leave a sprinkler on. Lemon scented air fresheners might also work.

Take a bucket of water, add like, half a cup of bleach, mix it around and wash the porch (or whatever the cat is taking its craps on) with it. Rinse and repeat every ~month.

Cayenne pepper. Spread it around your front door. When the cat comes to sniff before it craps, it'll be deterred from wanting to squat there.
