I have studs on a manifold flange I need to remove and reuse, what is there to use? I used a vise grip in another one, but obviously this grinds up the stud. Does a stud extractor leave the studs undamaged?

Carefully screw on two nuts, tighten them against each other then use them together to unscrew the stud.

Ideally, a stud extractor will not damage the stud. Sh!t happens, of course, and there's always the risk of shearing it off even if the surface isn't damaged.

Yes, these studs were special order and they've been on order for a week now. Saved me almost a week worth of down time on the car, thanks.
