how to remove search button from start menu? (winxp)

I checked tweakui already and it is not in there.

what is the registry key so i can do it myself? Just wanna get rid of search on the start menu

I have build 2526 and if I right click on the start menu and go to advanced properties I have an option that allows me to select/unselect what shows up on the start menu. Search is one of those options.

i have final xp. no option to remove search from start bar.

On 2600 too, it has it there. I just installed it tonight on another machine. Under 'customize start menu' and then under the advanced tab, then if you scroll down under 'Start Menu Items' There is an option in there to unselect the 'search' option.

There is little difference on the GUI side between 2526 and 2600.
