How to remove ALL video codecs

Yeah I can't play any mpeg, avi, dvd's etc since my codecs are screwed. Tried uninstalling everything and then installing 3ivx d4 and it didn't work. How can I start from scratch I have a feeling there are some codecs lingering that aren't working and messing with the video playback on dvds and mpegs etc... How can I do that? Thanks

Go to Device Manager,
Click on Sound, Video and Game COntrollers,
Click on Video Codecs
Click on Properties
Select Codec to delete
Click Remove

On a related question, what does the ffdshow codec look like when its installed? Am I correct in thinking I can remove XviDMPEG-4 Video Codec and also removed DivX 5.2.1 Codec and ffdshow will be able to play them instead? I am just wondering because I don't see one obviously called ffdshow in the list. Maybe it didn't install correctly?
