I would like to remap the Windows 7 magnifier keys (Window key + '+' and Window Key + '-') to two other key combinations. Does anybody how to do this? Registry hack?, Keymaping software? etc.

Yes, it's a registry hack or use software that will do the registry hacks for you. I use randyrants' sharpkeys.

Doesn't that software just change individual keys? I would like the Windows 7 magnifier keys (Window key + '+' and Window Key + '-') to be converted to Window+A and Window+Z without 'A' and 'Z' being affected.

The only thing i can thing of is using AutoHotKey but would rather not use another program running in the back ground.

There is other software that can remap key combos, but I haven't tried it for the Windows key. It sounds like you want to use one hand to zoom in/out. If you can sacrifice a key closer to your number pad, you can remap one of those to be a 'Windows' key. If you have extra media keys on your keyboard, you can try to remap two on those to be zoom in/zoom out. Try googling for 'Windows key combination remap.' Best of luck.
