How to reload the sims?

I copied my kid's c drive onto another partition, formatted C. Reloaded Win98 se on her comp. She goes to reload the sims onto C, and gets a message that the installer has found the game already on her pc, and refuses to load!

Of course, I wipe the other drive, expecting her to be ok...and she gets the same message. I went to the EA site for advice, but there was nothing that adressed this issue.

Can someone help?
Anyone?

i think what you did was to copy the sims installation directory from your partition drive back to your c drive...

anyways, it's not going to work that way.... do this instead:

put the sims from C back to your backup drive
then reinstall the sims from the CD on your c drive
after that, copy the save game directory only to the directory in C drive where you just installed the sims...
that should get you back to the game with all the save data

hopefully that's not too confusing 🙂

I did a fresh install. Place cd rom in drive and tried to do a standard install. After formatting the other partition, the program still says it is there! Thinking there is a registry entry there now...but do not know how to clean it out.
