How to reinstall IE 5 on windows 98se?

i've been trying a lot of times to reinstall Internet explorer 5 ( the version that comes with Win98se) from the win98se cd, but i always get a message: something like this " the version is older" , windows can't install it, i've tried from others cds but there's never success...

Please help me 'cause my Fu**ing IE is getting crazy and hanging up my system....

any suggestion? netscape 6, IE 5.5/6?

are you on a fast connection? can you just upgrade through windows update?

if not, then you might need to install netscape so you can download the ie 5.5 setup files from microsoft

You tried reloading windows. Boot up to a 98 startup disk and type "setup" at your CD ROM prompt which will be one letter higher than usual. You shouldn't lose anything.

Use IEradicator to remove Internet Explorer. From there, you can can then install whatever version you wish.
