Hi

I just got a Compaq Presario SR1710nx with preloaded Windows XP home. However, I would like to install a Windows XP professional together with SUSE Linux. The problem is, there is no CDs or DVDs coming with the desktop. To reinstall the system, one needs to make some recovery images (which are already stored in hard drive).

Does that mean each time I reinstall, the system will only recover to the original status? Can I make a separate driver disk for an overall reinstallation of XP Professional? Thanks a lot for your hints!

Acronis True Image

You might want to image the existing C: or recovery partition for if you ever sell or give away the PC, then use a partition tool to get back the space (and partition) from the recovery partition.

Then delete all partitions before installing XP Pro and linux, then use True Image again to make backups of both.
