Can someone explain to me how it's done? I ran searches before posting but i'm not comin up with what i'm lookin for, or i don't understand them. Do i need a boot disc? If so where can i can download one. I've tried just dropping in the WinXP cd and running new installation. But i get to deleting the existing partition and it says it can't cuz it needs files off of it for the new install.

Hope i explained that right :) Thx for any info

It sounds loike you are trying to do this while you are in winXP, correct?

If so, reboot your system and boot off the CD, then you should be able to delete and recreate the primary partition from the setup there.

in win2k install process i choose to format or not ... even when i'm not rebuilding the partition table ... so there must be somewhere to make it in xp install ...
