HI,
Can anyone help me, I have an 80gig HDD that is loaded with XP pro (NTFS) and I want to use it as a slave with my 40gig (also XP pro NTFS) as the master HDD.
My trouble is I don?t know how to get it to reformat the 80gig HDD

I installed the 80gig HDD and it worked ok but it has it?s own OS and files (a full load of XP)

I tried the HDD software but it won?t do NTFS

THANK YOU

you pretty well have to format it with a windows 2K/XP CD

you can format it in windows 2K/XP as well

you would be better off with 80GB master and 40GB slave, as generally the 80GB will be newer, which usually means its faster (unless theyre the same generation, and the 40GB is 7200, and the 80GB is 5400, lol:D

Colt45.
I tryed using my XP CD that is how windows got on the 80gig HDD, did I miss something
and yes the 2 HDD's are 7200 RPM ATA 100/133

I just got this system working 100% on the 40gig and I don't want to reset my system , I just wanted to add 80gig's

Thanks

oh, ok. i missunderstood you then.

you just want to create a NTFS partition and format it (on the 80 gig) ?

if so, windows 2k/xp has a disk manager feature (right click my computer, click manage, click disk mangment) that allows you to create partitions and format drives.
