How to reformat Crucial C-300?

Silly question, I know, but for years I have only used WD drives and used their boot utility software any time I wanted to reformat and reinstall Windows. I've done some Googling, but can't find similar software for Crucial. Is there some sort of software I could use to boot and reformat the drive? System specs in signature.

Thanks.

Just secure erase the drive. It will return it to a 'new' state with performance. Parted Magic or HDDErase are good programs to perform a secure erase.

Expert tip: Windows 7 can properly format and partition an SSD.

What are you trying to do? Use it as a secondary drive? Install Windows 7 on it?

It is my primary drive, so yes I would reinstall Windows on it and thus would not format from Windows. I'm going to give those suggested programs a try.

Win7's install will properly align the partition. Just boot up Win7's install and when you get to the 'choose your disk' screen, format your disk. When you get there, you will need to delete your partition and create a new one so that it can create the new one aligned.

Secure erase before all of this to bring back max performance as the hungry Winblow$ hog needs it.

You don't even have to create the new one after you delete the old one. The installer will create it for you.

Then, Trim & GC will take care of keeping performance up.

Zap is correct no doubt... Just recently did a re-install of Win 7 Ultimate on the C300 in my sig, it went very smooth and after all the updates finaly and I say finaly got done I let it idle over night with no internet access and its smooth and super fast again...

If cloning from one drive to the SSD, I can give one piece of advice: Use Window's Disk Management tool to resize, and do NOT use any linux based tools. Tried 3 that all messed up the conversion process, because of various defects in reading NTFS headers, etc.

Like Burner, I always SecureErase an SSD which erases all user data and related metadata which resets the SSD to the initial out-of-box performance.

After that I format and reinstall.

The Secure Erase on Parted Magic is by far the easiest to use.
