A few months ago, i had signed up at Yahoo webhosting service and paid to reserve/use my own domain name.

Then i got busy doing other things and didnt really have the time to put into my website and since it was costing me money to keep the (unused) site up and running, i decided to cancel the Yahoo webhosting service.

Now im finding the time to put back into the site etc and want to find a new webhosting service but i have no idea how to get back my already registered domain name that i used before. Surely i should be able to get back my domain name that i paid $35 to own for 2 yrs??

Anyone know how to go about doing this? I used Yahoo webhosting service to sign up for the webspace and to reserve the domain name.. would i need to contact Yahoo somehow to get my name again? Im clueless!

thanks for the help :)

You need to find out if you are listed as the adminstrative contact for that domain. Do a whois on your domain and see if you are listed as the adminstrative contact. If you are listed as the administrative contact then you can do whatever you want with the domain. Most likely, whatever hosting service you choose will help you with the process of transfering it (if they don't you probably want a different service).

If you are not listed as the administrative contact then you need to contact Yahoo and get them to update the registration with you as the administrative contact.
