Hi,

If I want to protect a file, how can I use password to protect it?

Say microsoft words containing some confidential things which I do not want people to have acess to it.

How do I enable password protect to certain microsoft words files before opening the file??

If anyone knows how to do it, Please advise.

Thank a lot.

Regards

when save the document, in the SAVE AS window on the top right you will see a TOOLS button, click it and select GENERAL OPTIONS.

You will now be able to create a pasword to open and modify the document.

Did you ever think of typing password protection in the Office search menue or using the Office help assistant. The location for password protection is different for each version of Office.

How about password protecting certain folders?
Well, you can password protect folders for shared folders in a networked environment. But, as far as doing that on a single computer, I don't think it can be done unless there's some third party add-on that would provide this functionality.

NTFS security is available whether or not you're on a network or not. All you need is an NT based OS.
