Hah! For once it's of some use to be from the country using the official(tm) Latin pronounciation - Germany.
It's kinda hard (for me) to write it down "in English", but about the first prodigy is right. It is NOT deuce but day-oos. The Ex is pronounced pronounced like umm ... acks, as in "hacks" without the h. Day-oos Acks.

The common mis-pronuciation is funny. If you say "Deuce (e)x" it sounds like "Do Sex"

FYI, it is pronounced day-oos ex (as we've already determined) and comes from the Latin expression "deus ex machina", meaning god from [the] machine. With this in mind, can anyone tell me why the hell this game has this name?

I used to say it like Day-us Ex, but I'd say it fast and have a tendency to mumble. So I've taken to just calling it Gay Sex because that's what my friends would often think I said anyway...
