How to print from the iPad

That was funny until I googled and discovered this device actually doesn't have a print function. OMFG Apple fail.

BTW, picture imbedding now exists.

WTF why did I post the StumbleUpon link? I did mean to embed it. :hmm:

One of the main reasons it can't print of course is that it has no hardware I/O to speak of accept for the proprietary Apple port at the bottom.

Yeah but it just plain doesn't support printing. Eg, not even over wifi to a network printer.

I doubt many people really miss that, but still that's pretty sad. Although, you have to manually make a print bookmark in Chrome to be able to print.

There's no print button in Chrome so you have to manually make a "bookmark" that launches a script.

Are you talking chrome on the ipad? or chrome in general?
To print the webpage you're currently on, click the Page
chrome_pagemenu.gif
menu and select Print. You can also right-click anywhere on the page and select Print.

The problem is that my dad wanted Chrome on his netbook but couldn't print even after I showed him a few of those options. He wanted an actual print button and after googleing, the only way to do that is to make a bookmark that prints. In firefox, you can enable a print button.

no offense... but i woulda told him Chrome was for people who can walk and chew gum at the same time.

If he can't understand RIGHT CLICK ... PRINT...

then he doesn't deserve Chrome, let alone a netbook.

WTF u srs? Your father isn't that smart, is he?

edit: BTW text

But frankly, if your dad can't click Page -> Print or Right Click -> Print then he shouldn't own a computer.
Do you know anyone over 50? He actually got a full ride to Stanford.

I don't know why he wanted to use Chome, but I do think the additional screen space and the smaller footprint makes it a good fit for a netbook. He understood right click print fine, but kept forgetting it.

Yes, my dad is also well over 50, and I've taught him things way more advanced than Page -> Print. Hell, he has even managed to string 3 clicks together sometimes.

My dad managed to buy and set up a new router when the old one broke, and he's in his mid-50s.
Although he does use Firefox and ended up with half a dozen stupid toolbars installed.

The Ipad can't print? That's unfuckingbelievable. The holes in the ipad's functionality just seem more and more glaring as time goes by.

People don't seem to understand that it was designed to be a limited application tablet computer, not a desktop, laptop, or even netbook replacement.

When scroll computers come out I bet people are going to be whining that they don't have physical keyboards.
