How to prevent monitor from going back to sleep after waking up

I recently got a new LCD monitor (NEC MultiSync 2470WNX) and it has an annoying habit. When the screen has powered off after being idle for a while, wiggling the mouse with wake it up and I can see the desktop and everything, but a second or two later, it goes black like it couldn't find a signal. Turning the monitor off and on fixes the problem, but that's annoying.

Any idea how to prevent this? I'm running Windows XP and have an nVidia GeForce 9800

I had this same problem with my Dell 2408wfp, and so did lots of other people. I read a ton on the Dell forums about it, but never read of a fix other than turning it off and on again. I sold that monitor several months ago, so I guess that fixed the problem for me 😀

Edit: It happened with Windows XP Home 32-bit and Win7x64 both with an ATI 2900 XT.

What is the native resolution and refresh rate of the monitor and what is the resolution and refresh rate you are using?

The native resolution and the one I am using is 1920x1200. I have the refresh at 60hz. I'm not sure what the native refresh rate is.
