Over the last couple days, it seems like there has been an excessive amount of newbies. That isn't usually the problem. The problem, however, is the idiotic nature of most of them, and the seemingly pointless posts by said newbies. However, this problem isn't limited just to newbies, it's also a problem with other veteran posters. Let's lay down some things in my wannabe PSA for ATOT.
1.) The search button is your friend! It's the little button under "Navigation", 3rd from the left. Isn't it cute? It is used to find other peoples posts. It's more commonly used to make sure that someone else hasn't posted your pointless, trite, and idiotic link about something really stupid. Now, to use this feature, you click "search", type in a keyword that would well describe your crappy post and/or link, and look at the results. If you find a post similar to yours, except less crappy, and less than 2 months old, that means you do NOT post about it. Instead, you could post in that thread, or you can sit and stew in your own fecal matter and click on another thread. Just because you haven't seen Yatta doesn't mean you have to share it with us.
2.) T@|_|<1|\|g 1i3k t|-|15 or TaLkINg aLL kEwLIeZ liEk tHiS makes your post null, idiotic, and void, shows that you lack proper education regarding the English Language, tells us that none of your posts should be regarded and given respect, and finally, gives Red Dawn an excuse to skullfvck you.
3.) Pathetic Attention Whoring = No. As much as ATOT likes boobies, many of us don't take attention whores too well. "Oooh wow, look at me, I have boobies, and I'm tired" is a good example of attention whoring. Posting about every little detail of your mundane life so that ATOT can read about it is also a big no-no. Most of us don't give a crap, and you look really stupid. Girls usually fall into this category, but guys can too.
4.) Posts about women: In most posts concerning women, pics must be posted, unless you'd like 50% of your thread to have "Pics" as a reply. Then again, that might boost your ego, but if that's what you want, you can have it. As for Relationship posts about a woman, it is my personal opinion that more of you need to have sex with your hand, because your posts are kinda stupid. You get into a relationship with some psychotic hose beast and then you come on here asking what to do, or you screwed up and want to know what to do. "What do I get her for our anniversary" = Acceptable. OMGWTFBBQ WHAT DO I DO WITH THIS GIRL I THINK SHE LIKES ME BUT SHE'S A SLUT OMG= NOT Acceptable. Catch my drift?
5.) Information: We aren't gonna do your homework for you, we're not gonna write your research paper for you, etc. There are things called search engines that you can use. Now, if you need stuff like "What's the derivative of something" or some info that you think an ATOTer might be able to provide you, then go ahead.
6.) Any post about the following WILL get attention in this forum, are good conversation topics and might get you flamed, so don't cry to mommy: Being dumb with women, Dubya, Clinton, John Ashcroft, Abortion, Gun Control, USA vs. (Insert country here), Bruce Lee vs. Coke, any branch of the US Military, Socioeconomic Conditions in Afghanistan, Nuclear weapons, Drugs, Diane Feinstein, Sen. Hollings, keying cars, taxes, the DMCA, P2P software and MP3's, internet radio, Nissan, Type R, Camaro, Mustang, Ricer, Speeding tickets, Pie, Pi, the Middle East, your Flat Tax proposal, why nuking Middle East/Canada/India/Pakistan/Antarctica is good, etc, etc, etc.
7.) Unless a thread is a poll, or someone's asking a question there is absolutely no need to post a one word response, with or without a smiley, to a thread that you agree/disagree with. Any answer that directly pertains to a thread and is over 5 words long is acceptable (emoticons don't count), as long as you're posting pertinent information or opinion. Posting the following, in conjunction with a smiley, is a waste of bandwidth and shows us that you're just another mindless idiot who follows other peoples opinions, or another mindless idiots with nothing to contribute to a thread : Yes, No, Werd, W3rd, That's gay, That's cool, XXXX ownz j00, I agree, I disagree, I like pie too.
8.) Postcount is not everything. Yes, it makes you well respected in most cases, but if you TRY to increase your postcount by posting Postcount++, First Post, anything in #7, or just stupid crap like #6 in order to raise it, you're just another nef who should be shot in the face.
9.) Posting threads about your day being boring as hell is stupid as hell. Get in a car, drive to a restaurant or park, and hit on some women or something. Sheesh.
In summation, for those too lazy to read, make sure your post makes sense, Emoticons and one word responses are bad, if posting about a breakup, provide high quality nude jpegs, and finally, noone really cares about what you post. I will amend this as I see fit, these are all I can think of for now.
Now that you are somewhat educated about the workings of Internet Message Boards, you can post, and noone will give a crap about you. Thank you, and good day.
