How to own it?

This thread is rather simple in its nature. Characteristics that belong to you, for instance, wits, looks, style, etc or lack of the aforementioned.. how do you own them? I'm sure this seems like a braindead question, but how does one get past no confidence?

Don't give a shit. Once you realize that most people voted for Bush and Obama, does it really matter what they think?!

How the hell do you deal with this place? It's hard enough for a native English speaker, much less being from Switzerland :^D

err, Swiss are supposed to be native English speakers no? humm, Apparently English is not one of the official languages. I was wrong.

What's not going to really work? I thought we were talking about confidence.

You asked how someone gets past no confidence. I don't know that you can, or that anything you try to own is going to work.

If that doesn't make sense, then you should re-write your original post so it asks what you think it asks.

I guess owning it is kind of slang.. I always thought it was synonymous with being confident.

Not sure what you are asking, but if you are looking for ideas on how to build self confidence, you might want to look into taking a martial arts or self defense class.

The traits that lead to self confidence such as willpower, self reliance and self control are often by products of knowing how to handle yourself. Its not that you know how to kick someones ass, its that you are learning mastery of your body and how to focus energies.

Just a thought.

I wouldn't say it's synonymous with being confident. Owning something to me would be the recognizing of a characteristic or trait about yourself and working hard to do something positive with that characteristic. But that would be hard to do without self confidence.

How do you get past having no confidence? I guess you need to read a self help book or go see a therapist. Or are you asking how to fake self confidence?

If you develop a complete self-identity, that is; have a definite understanding of who you are as a person, then you'll be truly confident of who you are, regardless of situations.

Of course, that only really comes with experience and time, so you'll have to learn to fake/emulate it and it'll come naturally over time.
