This should give you everything you need to know (and more): http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=47089

I ran a Q6600 at 3.22 GHz (358 x 9) at stock voltage for 4 years. Then, I had to back down the overclock a little bit since overclock potential seems to wane over time. I set it to 3 GHz (333 x 9) at stock voltage, and it passed Prime95 for 24 hours with no errors. Obviously YMMV, but it's certainly possible to hit 3.22 GHz at stock voltage.

BTW, what's your stepping? Mine was G0, which is a better overlocker than B3 (Source).

Mine is B3. However, it does appear that I have a good ability on my P5k to do some amount of overclocking.

The thread you gave to me on "all I need to know" is fantastic.

I will probably download it into a word doc and the images.

Thanks a lot.

1. disable speedstep (EIST)
2. set RAM:FSB ratio to 1:1
3. leave multiplier at 9
4. set FSB to 333
5. you may need to bump up vcore just a tad with that B3 Q6600. IMO the other voltages should be OK.
6. if you have 4GB ddr2 I wouldnt bother going to 6GB. it will add more stress to the MCH and may limit your OC. Also, I think the G31 is limited to 4GB anyway?

I will look at this and other thoughts in the overclocking thread. I understand what you are saying.

G31??? and MCH ???

Thanks,

MCH = Memory Controller Hub
G31 = your motherboard's northbridge chipset

Thanks.

Just haven't been that into the detail for a few years.

Climbing back in.

Hello again,

My p5k se sees all 8gb.

I just loaded up my 64 bit system last night and the 8gb is showing up.

Now I need to stress test the memory since it is all new.

Thanks,

Ralph

Ralph, I think we confused you with the OP and that's why we thought you had a G31 mobo.

No problem.

I am working on setting up an overnight memory test using HCL Memory Tester.

I bought the deluxe model.

However, I am trying to figure it out.

I wanted to create an .ISO image and burn it to a CD/DVD so I can boot up offline and do an extensive and complete memory stress test.

I have done this before, but it is hazy in my mind right now.

Got to go back and relearn how to do it.

I have imgburn on my windows/xp system.

I will get it going today.
