How to optimize system with Intel SSD (X25-M) and std. HD??

OK, I decided to order an Intel X25-M 80G SSD. What's the best way to optimize a desktop system to use this SSD along with a HD?

I'm thinking the X25 should be C: and contain the OS and apps. (all of which should fit well within 80G). Then I plan to put all the "my *" data files in D: which will be the a regular hard drive. (videos, music, images, etc).

Is this the best way to do it? Has anyone used Acronis TI with a Sata SSD? I assume it'll be recognized just like a HD since it meets the SATA standards.

I ordered one as well. It just arrived today actually. That's exactly how I plan to use mine. But I think I might wait to open it till I hear some more news about the Samsung 256GB SSD's that went into production last week. I might send the Intel back and get one of them instead if they are available soon. The claim to have a sequential read of 220 MB/s and a sequential write of 200 MB/s

don't assume it will just work with acronis, sure it uses SATA, but that is no gaurentee. If you can't find confirmation, then call them...
What do you even NEED to use acronis for? just install a fresh windows copy to the intel drive and transfer your data over.

To save tons of time since I already have a recent Vista install with all my apps. Someone did confirm that Acronis TI will work with SSDs.

Is there any special reason that X25-M benefits from a fresh install vs. a clone restore. I haven't had much experience with SSD's.

I don't see why it would, but don't quote me on it.

I bought an 80GB X25-M online today. It should arrive next week. I've heard that Windows can assign a single drive letter to multiple drives and you can assign certain directories to certain disks. So C:\Windows goes to the SSD, and C:\My Documents goes to my 1TB Hitatchi. I need to read up more on it but that's my current plan... once I figure out how to do it.

They said it shipped today. I'm excited. :)

it doesn't take THAT long to reinstall a fresh copy of windows... and it DOES take a lot of time to make a full drive clone. Not to mention potential issues slowing you down further.
How many DAYS have you been here DISCUSSING this? you could have been done already if you just reinstalled and copied the important files over.

You can fix ANY os, microsoft or otherwise, without a reinstall... but a reinstall is just so much FASTER and EASIER than finding and fixing problems one by one.
