How to obtain salvation through Jesus

This is for people who know they need Jesus but have heard so many conflicting stories about how to obtain genuine salvation. There are no middle men, no special church or denomination is required and no magic prayer to say to obtain this free gift of God. John 3:16 says that God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. I John 1:9 says that if we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We must confess our sins to Jesus and he alone has the power to forgive us of them.

I realized this as a child without anyone to help me so I knelt beside a tree by myself and asked God to forgive me of my sins and save me. When you do this with a genuine intention God will hear you and respond to you personally. You will know it beyond a shadow of a doubt as you and he begin to interact on a personal level. You cannot obtain salvation by sacrificing small animals, confessing your sins to another person or attempting to work your way in through good deeds as some teach. Ephesians 2:8-9 says For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

I fully expect to be bashed for this post but I placed it here for anyone who realizes what they need and that this free gift can be obtained without any other party's assistance. I'm not a bible beater and cannot stand those people who condemn others. I've seen some who wave the bible around at intersections yelling at motorists and passersby demonstrating a complete lack of respect for them. Others want to be argumentative when they encounter a person who doesn't agree with them. How can anyone take them seriously when they behave this way?

I think of the woman at the well when Jesus was kind and gentle to her when he defended her against the crowd and then told her to go and sin no more. Church today would look down on her and shun her presence as inferior and unwanted. How many yelling foaming at the mouth people have you seen condemning people in front of an abortion clinic in the name of religion? Jesus is not religion so please do not confuse the two. I hate religion myself and organized religion in the name of God is nothing more than a money making business in many cases these days. Back in the day the world was full of religious people having a form of Godliness but denying the power thereof.

After 11 years setup, he must be asking for a lot. Quite the investment for any spam outfit.

That's called playin the long game. He'll be laughing from his perch up in heaven when some wandering soul happens upon this thread and he gets full commission on the sale.

I've recently brought Thor into my life, and things have never been better. Plus the stories are much more entertaining. Instead of "take all the shit you're dished, and I swear things will be better in heaven", you get stories full of badassery and humor. It's not even close.

We must confess our sins to Jesus and he alone has the power to forgive us of them.

Or maybe you could confess your sins to those you have actually wronged and get actual forgiveness. Because the wronged party alone has the power to forgive.

The divining rod thread has more credibility than this, at least someone could get lucky and find what they are looking for, god on the other hand will remain forever absent.

other than that last sentence of course, the Bible teaches just what you said. Weird how it gets left out, huh?

Thanks to the link you posted I can see exactly the kind of thing the Bible say on forgiveness.

Seems god needs a lesson on religious tolerance, but that's OK. I forgive him/her.

I submit that if you seek forgiveness because it's expected of you as part of your religious beliefs and not out of a human desire to make amends then you are not really seeking forgiveness.

I also see that I should murder some animals when seeking forgiveness, apparently it helps.

That Bible gateway is a goldmine of info, thanks.

I'm guessing the mods haven't found their bearings yet. This shit doesn't belong in OT.
