Freshly built Vista rig (see sig #2) that needs to clarify a few things before proceeding with o/c attempts

1) What utilities do I need to monitor the temps and clock frequencies?
2) What o/c utility that you recommend to use?
3) What would be the most optimal clocks freq for the 8800gts (640)?

It's been a while since I've previously done some o/c work with the 79xx series so I'm not a total noob in this category. ;)

Thanks in advance.

EDITED on 7/4/07

3dmark06 = 10556

Breakdown:

eVGA 8800GTS(640) @ 621/2020
temps 58c (idle)/60-70c(load)

3DMark Score = 10556 3DMarks
SM 2.0 Score = 4748 Marks
SM 3.0 Score = 4564 Marks
CPU Score = 2763 Marks

System spec peek (in 2nd sig):

e6600 @ 3.401ghz @ 29c(idle) to high 30c load
Crucial Ballistix Tracer LED DDR2 = 910mhz

google for RivaTuner. The new build has pretty decent Vista support.

1.) Rivatuner
2.) Rivatuner
3.) 650/2050 (my clocks) but more realistic would be 625/2000

They make Rivatuner for vista?
Never really checked on that but give it a shot :p

Well Riva Tuner is not ready for prime time I'm afraid to say.
First I cranked up gpu clock to 600 then ran 3dmark06 which crashed in the midway of the benchmarking.
Reset gpu clock it to default. Then ran 3dmark06 once again, this time it did a BSOD dumping.
Reboot the rig which successfully went all the way to window but as soon as I opened the RT utility then another BSOD.
This time I had no choice but booting into safe-mode and removed RT all together then everything went back to normal.
Is RT ready for Vista 64?
Not for me anyhow.

Now another question...How good is Ntune?

Err, do you have the latest Rivertuner? 2.01?

It works just fine in Vista 64 for me.

Get ATITool and goto their forums on how to make it work. My GTX hits 650/2106 oc'd

It was sort of operator error as I found out just last night when RT was causing wreck-havoc in my new rig, two days ago.;)
Well I made a noob mistake as I was doing both overclock processes (dram & gpu) almost at the same time frame, which is a no-no.
Anyway I'm happy to report my 8800gts has successfully been o/c'ed to 610/2000.
I could have gone higher but this is good enough for now as more game testing is needed.
3dmark06=10371
Is this score in-line of what it should be?

BTW, Rivatuner has the new version 2.02 available for d/l.
RT 2.02
Loos like many improvements done for the AMD 29xx cards in this release so I'm not going to switch over just yet.

One downside is Vista 64 refuses to load the RT at start-up due to an un-signed driver.

Don't forget to mod the shaders as well.
Advanced & Detailed guide on overclocking the GeForce 8 Series cards can be found here ;)

Mine maxed out @ 621/2020 before 3dmark06 starts freezing up.
Shader clock speed too maxed out @ 1458.
On the conservative side I will keep it running @ 610/2000
3dmark06=10556

Does my cpu score seem low which seems to impact the overall 3dmark06 score?
