how to network 2 xboxs with crossover cables?

yes i have, no luck

it says no link

If you're trying with a cross over cable have you tried a regular cable?

You do not want to use crossover cables. I tried this to no avail. Just use regular cat 5 cable to connect between the two, that will solve your problem.

Yeah regular cables do the trick.

if you have a router or hub laying around w/ a home network, just plug both Xbox's into said device with regular cat 5

unfortunately i dont have a router

would i need an active internet connection to network the two if i bought a router?

No. The typical SOHO router serves well as a switch and is not affected by whether there is an internet conenction or not.

wouldnt it be cheaper just to buy a switch then?

also, for anyone who has done this, can u tell me what the IP's and DNS's are supposed to set to?
