how to network 2 computers with 2 seperate IP addresses on cable

one last question..
do you guys think a 3-4 year old 5port 10base100 sohoware hub would have an uplink? i got this hub in a networking package that cost $60.

That hub should have the uplink port on it. It will probably be one of the last ones on either side.
