I'm thinking about maybe moving to another country for a few years or maybe indefinitely. I think an English-speaking country would be the best. Maybe Canada, U.K., or somewhere.... How should I do this? I'd like to finish up school first...

Stats:

Age: 21 (22 in August)
Going for a Business Management Degree from the University of Tennessee... (about a year and a half left)
I'm a Server Administrator and do groovy stuff with NT, 2000, Novell 5.1 and 6.
I've been working in the computer industry for about 4 years now and have done teaching and what not before as well...
I don't have much money, but will hopefully be able to sell stuff before I move... (furniture, jeep, etc.)
I'm also pretty decent looking so I won't have to worry about looks getting in the way if I go somewhere else...I'm also tall which would make me more likely to be successful in most other countries...

The best way on a limited buget is to get a student visa which can last foour years if you get accepted to a uni over there. What do you like? You must be accepted before a visa will be granted and prepare for very high tuition on the orde of 15K per year.

Some sugestions:

Canada is cold but low pop density and they are very close to America.

New Zealand is my favorite country becuase the whether is identical to california in reverse and flipped upside down.

Australia I thought was a little to provential for my taste but also has lowest pop density. Watch out for snakes!!

Go easy on me! Sheesh! I didn't say that stuff with an Ego or anything...I'm just trying to think of every positive thing I have going for me if I were to try to be successful somewhere else. If you were an American employer, would you hire a Brit with a 3 foot horn growing out of his head? I sure as hell wouldn't....

Buy a plane ticket. Get a passport. Pack some clothes. Get on plane at appropriate time.

Voila! You've moved to another country.

Get a job at an international business and have them move you. That way you don't have to pay for the move! :)

I'm confused. Are you trying to say NZ has sunny warm weather??? During summer it does....but winter??!? No way in hell man. It never stops raining. I don't think it's stopped in the last month :p

you should just move to Florida. the people are so wacked out down there, it's like living in a different country. Especially the Ft Lauderdale and Gainesville areas.

I was thinking about maybe going over to another country through an American firm and let them pay me for the move. I just don't have my foot in the door of such a company...

The student visa won't do it cause I'm wanting to work in another country and they don't usually allow students to settle down very easily.

I don't even know if I could get a job working in the computer industry somewhere else because the states seem to be the best place for this sort of work...at least, I've always been able to find work.

No cal. same thing.

I was there this winter south island not up by U and it did'nt rain once for two weeks!!

BTW. What the legal limit there. I got pulled over after about 6 ales and no "jayiile" for me. Could'nt believe we even saw a cop about 60 km SW of chistchurch since everywhere was so deserted.

Also what up with you guys only building one lane bridges?

I live in NZ and have a lot of experience with Australia. The IT market is very poor in both countries at the moment due to company downsizing, and it would be tough for you to find IT work downunder. You will need to get a job in a multi-national IT company like IBM and then get transferred. That way they cover some of the cost and do the paperwork for you. At least some of it.

Dunno about the UK or Canada.

Yeah, there is way less rainfall in the south but also quite a bit colder. Legal limit is about three beers so you were lucky.

Can't answer the bridges question. They were most likely built by the Irish immigrants. :p
