so... i have had a 360 for over a year and its been working pretty well though i didnt play that much. my old roomate played a lot though, so i'm assuming its ok.

oddly, i moved across california to a colder area and it starts locking up all the time.

even in a well ventilated area. i used some canned air to get the dust out etc.

anyhow, it would freeze up after just sitting at the plain market place screen for more than 2 seconds. anyhow, i ripped the casings off by following some guide (following it poorly i might add... so i might have to buy an after market casing) and now i can play all i want. but my 360 is in pieces.

has anyone found a better way to cool the inside? could this just be a heatsink compount reapplication? god, why cant this thing be reliable like my SNES.

i have a feeling that you might have to send it in, make sure you have warranty and send that in while you still have the warranty...if you have a long enough warranty try getting the intercooler like the above post says and see if that helps.

Take it apart and nail it to your wall like that guy did with his motherboard and PC innards. Then point a fan at it.

If you are handy, it might be fun to make a new case for it with some good ventilation.

I was considering get an htpc case and moving everything over to that. If they made it a little easier to take apart and re-assemble I would try it. Putting those components in a small case was one of the worst decisions for the 360.
