I would like to know how to make a shape such as square/rectangle/circle/trinangle to a specific measurement such as 7"x7" or a triangle that is 7 and 1/2 " high and 8 and 5/8 on each sides diangnols

or 7 and half inch radius circles...

thanks. :)

You could begin by posting in the correct forum or looking through the MANUAL that comes with your LEGAL copy of the software...

thanks, you may go and kill a kitten now and leave this post :)

Really? YAY! Man, I've been waiting all day for someone to give me permission! Now I can finally relax! :p

I didn't leave your post because I wasn't ever in it, unless you consider my quote to contain some sort of essence of my soul. In which case you must edit it out yourself because I can't edit your posts. I'm still going to stay in this thread, however. :p

Pick the shape you want from the toolbar, then click on the screen. Simple as that. Do not try to drag the shape like you would normally do, just simply click and a menu will come up asking for all the specs. :)

edit: That is how it goes for Illustrator CS, not sure about previous versions but I am pretty sure it should be the same.

I've been okay. Extremely bored lately, though. I'm tired of downloading, configuring, and compiling linux code though. :p It's only midnight here. I'm usually up for a few more hours. I live in northwest Oregon, USA. I have a job interview tomorrow afternoon. !!!!

thanks fora good reply man.
I know how to do a square. but for a triangle i need it to be 8 and 5'8" on each side and have it be 7 and half inch tall..

after i click polygon tool > 3 sides . it asks for radius and i put 28.825 but the triangle is way too big to fit on a regular 8x11 sheet :( hmphh..im dumb!

Well you probably put the units as inches and of course 28.825 in will not fit on an 8.5 x 11 paper. I'm workin on the triangle (still kinda new to Illustrator, but getting better :)) but I'm lying on my couch and I'm just using the trackpad so it's going kinda slow.

shiz...putting 3.75inch for the radius - appears that the trinagle doesnt seem to be the right size....ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Didn't you notice that the CD you were burning off the downloaded image was a bit small to include the manual? ;)

Sorry hoss, some of us actually do pay for our software. Got the Adobe Creative Suite with my student discount (required to buy it + a mac laptop for my major) and paid something like $400 for it, so suck it. :p
