how to make outlook express automatically recieve mails

i'm running outlook express 2003 on vista home premium sp2 and was looking for some advice. At work outlook (same version) receives mail automatically without hitting send/receive and when an e-mail comes in a little notification fades in at the corner of the screen, can i set this up at home? if so could anyone give me some pointers how?

I assume it is outlook 2003 not express, goto tools, options, mail setup, and then send receive.

the page before that shows the notification options.
 
yeah sorry, not express just 2003. thanks for the advice I've changed that and i'll see how it goes.

just out of interest though, it says when outlook is offline you can set it for auto send/receive too, how does that work if it's offline?
