How to make Firebird open links automatically in a new tab?

When a link from a site would normally spawn a new browser instance, I want that link to come up in a new tab instead of in a new instance of Firebird. CrazyBrowser does this just fine for me but I can't get Firebird to do it. Is it not an option? It's enough to keep me away from Firebird until they fix this.

I've been searching for an answer to this too. The site says you can hold control or click the middle mouse button (or wheel button), but it doesn't work for me. So I just right click and choose open in new tab.

the advanced way: go to about:config in you address bar, and look for browser.tab stuff. be careful, you can break stuff. I don't remember the easy way.

Middle click works great for me in linux or windows. Also you can hit ctrl+enter when typing in a url and it'll do the same thing. version .6 here.

I think he realizes how to open a link in a new tab, AFAICT he wants annoying sites (such as anandtech) that launch all links in new windows, to open them in new tabs instead.

Middle click does it, but if you want to make it so a regular click opens it as well, go to about:config and change browser.tabs.opentabsfor.windowopen to true.

I know Moz has a pref browser.tabs.opentabfor.windowopen, but I don't think FB does.

edit: um... never mind. moz ignores that pref.
