I just found an old ATi card, a 3D Rage II+ PCI (2MB).

Plugged it in, plugged a second 17"er into it. Booted up and nothing. No second display shown in Display Properties / Settings. In device manager the second graphics card shows but only one monitor comes up.

what operating system are you running?

so your saying it DOES show up in device manager but not in display properties eh?

i'm running 3 monitors with 3 video cards right now in win2k with no problems.

it's a good sign that it's in device manager.

i would suggest that you remove both cards from device manager, then reboot, and let it detect both. then you have to go to display properties and choose "extend my windows desktop onto this monitor" in order to get the second card activated.

Aparantly the dual thing doesn't work with ATi cards? So it says in another thread anyway...

I tried removing both cards and my monitor to let it redetect all and nothing changed.

Switch the primary video display in BIOS. Some cards simply must be primary to act right with multiple displays.
