How to make chrome add new bookmarks to only one folder

I use chrome here and there, and i think i am starting to prefer it over FF. One of the main reasons i havent switched is because the way chrome handles new bookmarks.

I like to bookmark many different things, and i like the way firefox handles it.

When i click the star in firefox, it puts the download in the unsorted folder, so then when i get a chance every few days, i go through and sort/delete bookmarks.

When i click the star in Chrome, it adds the bookmark to whatever folder it was just added to, and doesn't have an "unsorted" folder. This results in bookmarks going in the wrong categy and confusion.

Is there an extension so all bookmarks are added to one folder (the unsorted or temp folder that ill create)

I don't click on the star to add bookmarks, I drag the icon at the start of the URL to the folder on my shortcut-bar that I want it in

Well you can choose which folder even if you click the star, but thats not the problem. My problem is that it chooses the last folder you used by default.

I like my "unsorted" folder in firefox, because when i get some free time I usually go through it. I read whatever articles i wanted to, and then if i decide to keep them, i throw them in the corresponding folder after that.

When im busy i just want to bookmark it and then organize later. I NEED a temporary folder. Yes its a little thing, but takes that much longer every time. And my preference for chrome isnt that much greater than firefox, so its whats stopping me from switching.

In chrome, create a folder in ur bookmarks 'unsorted'.
To do this select 'choose another folder' from drop down menu (when u click on yellow star/bookmark). This will open popup box. Click your top/main bookmark folder, and in lower left of popup box choose 'new folder'. Name it what u like (the new folder).

Like Shrimpster said create an "Unsorted" folder in your bookmarks.

Like NeoV said. Don't click on the star to add bookmarks, drag the icon at the start of the URL to your Unsorted folder on your shortcut-bar. One step, how easier can it be.

Just tried it, its easier to do that in chrome than FF, so this actually might work.

If you try the same thing in firefox, sometimes it misses the folder, so you have to pause for a second to make sure it goes in that folder. In chrome you just drag and immediately drop. I assumed it would be the same in chrome, but i was wrong.

It would be nice to just be able to click the star, but this will work. Thanks for the tip

No need to drag them. Once you save a bookmark in the 'unsorted' folder, it becomes the default save location for any new bookmarks you save by clicking the star.

yes and then once you move a bookmark into another folder via the bookmarks manager, then that folder becomes the default.

Yes the solution seems to be simple, but its not ideal. I think chrome needs to address this. I also wouldnt mind the ability to have a bookmarks sidepanel like in firefox, but i cant do that either in chrome.

There's an extension called Atomic Bookmarks 2 which lets you set a default location for your new bookmarks, along with other options. I haven't found anything else out there like it but it will do what you were originally asking for.
