i have a dialup connection to my isp and have two pcs - one desktop and one laptop. what i wanna do is to have one of the PCs, preferably the desktop, hooked up with the phone line but once it connects to the internet the other pc has access to the internet as well and they also are on a LAN. i currenly have a LINKSYS 4 port cable/DSL router which i used in the good DSL days :( so will it work to create a LAN? and how will i have both PCs online by having just the one PC dial into the ISP?

thanks for the help

Not sure if this will definitely work, but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Put a NIC in the box you want as your controller box. Connect that to the hub, connect all the other PCs to the hub. Should work. Good luck.

desktop--->dail-up modem--->dial-up internet
laptop NIC--->cat5 crossover--->desktop NIC

configure desktop as gateway to internet for the laptop.
