How to make a copy of my Sony Playstation disks

I know there was a forum about this a few days. I meant to ask some questions, but can't find it.

Firstly, it was mentioned that I need a CD-RW and software that copy 'Raw Data'. I am looking at getting a plextor. Is their new 32/10/8 IDE suitable. If nobody knows, what about the previous 32/8/4 version. And is the software that comes with the plextor suitable. If not, then what do I need.

There was also mention about some chip I need to modify the playstation or something. Does anybody know more about this?

I got the 8432 but never installed the software. For "backing up" ur games use cdrwin. You can dl it at any of the burning sites.
Works perfectly. Gotta have a modchip in ur psx though.

Just for my information. If these programs make exact copies of PS games and you make a copy of a US games why do you need a special chip in your PS to play the copied game?

Because there is error correction written in the playstation firmware to look for these errors on real playstation disc and the chip mod defeats this in the firmware. Here is a link to a good site on the subject http://www.cdfreaks.com/

Good link for the software your after. There is software specifically for 'Backing up' your PS games.

You should be able to get a modchip from any good computer fair. I got a couple from a site I found using 'modchip' as the search string. can't remember where it is now. Why not have a go yourself, you never know you might suprise yourself.

its not a misprint, its either down or gone as many warez sites die at a early age. Why dont you try playstation modchip in a search. there are many places to buy online.

I don't think you can copy PS games using CDRW discs, although I may be wrong... My friend tried to copy PS games with CDRW and it does not work, while using CDR discs work perfectly...

Nero can copy PS games without any trouble, although u have to mess around a little with the settings...

And yes, you do need a mod chip to play the games... I also heard you can play copied games without mod chip by: put in an original PS game, turn on the PS, let the game load, then open the disc cover without turning off PS, replace the disc with a copied one and close the cover. I am not sure if this will work though, I have never tried it myself...
