I want to mail someone a pizza....it will be about 24-30 hours between the time it comes out of the oven and is delivered in the mail. Do you think it is enough to surround the pizza box with bags of ice, or would the pizza need to be directly on the ice?

Should I freeze it before sending so it starts ice cold?

Just place an online order via Papa Johns, use your credit card, and have it sent to this person. Don't forget to tip.

I would vacuum-seal the pizza and freeze it, and then pack it in an insulated container with dry ice.

 - and that means what exactly?

Then consider Dry Ice, and a styrofoam container designed for shipping frozen goods (although - you might want to consider overnighting it).

I don't know how good it'll be cook it, then refreeze it. Maybe you should freeze it before cooking it, so your recipient can cook it themselves.

If you want to keep it frozen, use dry ice.

...as far as Papa Johns is concerned, I've had good pizza from there, just not the one near me. They f'ing suck.

A pizza from any other place would probably taste as good if not better than a mailed frozen cooked pizza from Olive Garden.

It's going to be soggy if it's cooked before you send it. Both NY and Chicago style pizzas need to be eaten almost imediately to avoid soggy crust.

I have ordered pizza overnighted and they used dry ice too. Pizza was wrapped of course to protect.

WINNAR! Not knocking the Olive Garden here ... well yes I am. If your grandma from Italy thinks that's good Italian food, her tastebuds are dead. That would be like a Mexican saying Taco Bell is authentic. When my grandma isn't cooking it, I get my Italian from the North End. THAT's the real deal - not some chain store probably owned by Bill S. Preston, Esquire.

So you get less pizza for probably 3x the price? Score!

9" pizza, but it's 6" thick. Compare to 18" pizza that is 2" thick. Clearly the 9" pizza is actually larger!
