How to made a modem into an Answering Machine?

I know it can be done with the right modem and the right software, but i know its not very common practise. why? i would like to do it if i can. i have a cratibe modemblaster (cheap winmodem), and have no idea whether it has voice support and nothing about answerign machine. what can be done? what software do i need?
