I don't know if this will help you but I have bought a new system (P3 550E @ 733 + Maxtor 20.4 7200RPM + P3V4X + Asus GF DDR +...) It worked fine , but one day my 8 GB C: partition srinked to 1.99 GB - I ran Norton Disk Doctor (ScanDisk haven't found anything wrong??) - and DiskDoctor said that I have some BOOS Sector error wich makes the free space been reported worng - I have fixed that and now everything is OK!
