How to locate Mars???

I recently was given a nice telescope, and have no knowlege of the stars yet. Can someone point me in the direction of Mars and a good time to see it? I live in Central CA.

i was heading home one night after working late (see this thread) and saw mars. Very VERY bright. You can't miss it if it is visible.

That was about 5 am. Mars was about 6-7 hours up into the sky.

I hope you did drink alot of tequilla and beer, you deserve it.... just not before the drive home after working late!
