Have a relative who's a young artist and needs a venue to sell wares. Also have some art of my own.

How do you find like all of the festivals and stuff where venders sell art, and become a vender?

Anyway do you ever have any fairs? Out here they have a Puyallup fair each year, you get in on that and people will fight for your shit...doesn't matter what it is.

Most art fairs will charge a vendor a fee for the booth rental. If you think you can just bring a bunch of paintings and charge hundreds for each and make money you will be in a world of hurt. You need to also add some lower range products to make enough money to cover the booth fee.

I see photographers that have large framed worked selling for hundreds but they also have 8x10s selling for 10 bucks each or 3 for 20. The small stuff sells well enough.

People that make large glass vases will also bring in smaller pots or ash trays. You get the idea.

Also do the fake "sale" thing. Write a high price on the tag then cross it out and put a lower but real price underneath to make the suckers think they are getting a deal.:whiste:

I've seen people selling art at the local farmers market. Just gotta buy yourself a booth. Why don't you sell your art on Etsy.

Air fairs are a drag. Booth fees eat your profits and most attendees are there to be entertained, not to buy. Prepare for nasty little children and their dumb parents.

Galleries can work if your stuff sells sufficiently high to cover the typical 50% commission the gallery gets. Make sure the gallery is trying to make money and not just a vanity of the owner. Vanity galleries have this thing for not being open regular hours. Getting gallery owners to pay the artists can also be a challenge.

A well designed website with word-of-mouth and business card advertizing provides a better return to the artist.

well its about the same amount of effort for some of the stuff lately.

Up here in Anchorage on the First Friday of each month, local restaurants, bars and various stores downtown display and sell art by local artists. I'm not sure what sales are like, and I think it's just an excuse for most people to go out and drink. But most of these restaurants will keep the art up for the entire month or until the pieces are sold.

I know they have art for sell at many game conventions, if he does any fantasy, sci-fi, or horror artwork check them. Maybe comic book conventions also, but I don't go to those.

-Go to a local art fair and talk to the artists. There may be an art fair circuit they follow.
