How to limit bandwidth?

Hi,
Does anyone know how to limit bandwidth going to a computer and share a drive
within a network? I recently brought an Asante FriendlyNET Router (FR3004LC) to
share my internet access with my younger brother. He is annoying as hell,
and keeps on hogging up the cable bandwidth with music downloads. So i
was wondering if i can somehow limit his connection speed.

Also, does anyone know how to sharing a drive within the network. I am pretty
new at this. I check off share drive in properties already, but i dont see it on the
other computer.

I am currently running XP. Please help...

Thanks,
Matt

I don't know of any cheap ways to do it.

Edit: Unless you simply cap it at his machine. :)

Read up on Ethernet and how it works. The trick is that you want to set it to happen without it being noticeable or he'll switch it back. Think that ideally your machine would win if there are any collisions. It will make alot more sense as you understand how your controllers work. ;)

Look here for help on networking/file sharing. The instructions for Win2k should more or less be the same for XP.

Is he running XP too? XP has a new network management tool called QOS. Do a search for "XP Steals Your Bandwidth". On his computer, set it to 90% and set the NIC to 10Mbps half duplex. :)

Cheers!

I did find the "XP Steals Your Bandwidth" article. That was
really helpful. However, I am still having trouble sharing the
files with another pc within my home network.

Thanks everyone for the help.
