I recently changed cases with my KK266 mobo. After changing I noticed that my floppy drive would not work. It fails right at post. I get an error code 40. I thought it might be that I didn't plug my floppy connector in right. I checked both ends of the cable and they were in there tight. I checked the power connector and it is right. It still didnt work. So I changed floppy drives. Nothing!

How do I know for sure my controller is bad? How does a floppy controller go bad? Do u think I have two bad floppy drives? If I do have a bad controller where do I get a floppy controller card?

If the little light stays on all the time on your floppy drive you have one end of the cable flipped over. The end without the twist goes to the motherboard and the end with the twist goes to the "A" drive with the red line on the cable to pin one on the connector at each end respectively.

The cable is backwords when this happens. Reverse it and you should be good to go.

Have you tried a different cable?

If your motherboard floppy controller really is bad, I would just get an LS120 drive instead. These drives connect to IDE ports.
