how to know if cdrw is working?

just got a scsi setup, the cdrw can read but after write, the cd is still blank, what is my problem here, any help??
i have tried clonecd and cdrwin, same result.

thx for the replied.
i was thinking the same thing, since i bought this used, so i opened it up, the lens was a bit dirty, clean it up, and test, now it is working again.
