How to install Win98 on a Win2K machine for dual boot?

I've done plenty of dual boot systems in the past. But what happens if you already have a Windows 2000 install that you don't want to FUBAR? Here is the situation:

User needs 98 to run old application. Won't run in 2K - I've spent all week tyring to get it to. So his laptop already has 2k on it and I don't want to mess with it (the 2000 load).

30gb drive - first partition (4096mb) is NTFS, 2nd partition (26gb) is FAT32.

Any ideas? If I install windows on the Fat32 partition - it'll remove Win2K boot loader, right? Can I then just boot off of the 2K cd to repair it? If so, how?

Any help would be greatly apprecaited!

Since first partition is NTFS, win98 won't even be able to see it, much less boot from it. Since it's likely that second partition is logical drive in an extended partition, win98 couldn't boot from it either. Other than doing major surgery on the hard drive, only recourse would be to find a proprietary boot loader than can use NTFS.

Skaven, My first thought is have ya tried to run the application by
enabling W98 compatibility mode, which reqires W2k service pack 2
or greater?????

Unfortunately it has something to do with the way Win2k communicates with the com port. Its actually a 16bit windows program. It works in 98 on the same computer, but in Windows2000 it doesn't work with the same settings. I've combed through all the com port settings and have tried every combination... no dice.

Anybody know if I can ghost a Win2k image that was imaged in NTFS to a Fat32 partition??
