how to install memory in ibm thinkpad?

i'm trying to install a 128mb memory module in my friends IBM thinkpad 1412 and i can't get it to fit in the slot proper.
i know i have the right module.
it's just that it does not go all the way into the slot....are there any installation instructions?

Insert the RAM at about 30 degrees. Press firmly down on it, while pushing into the slot at an angle.
