My folder is empty in the control panel. Anyone know how to actually install the tools? I couldn't find anything that looked like them in the add/remove windows components window.

Pop in your win2k cd and click 'add-on components'

and then check admin tools....

I already tried that. There are "management" tools, but no admin tools. When I install the management tools nothing still shows up.

How did you get them to disappear? Every time I've installed win2k, they've been there.

Try running secpol.msc from Run window. If it runs, you've got the files in system32 directory, where they should be. If not, for some odd reason the .msc files didn't get copied.

Thanks obenton! Yeah, they were in there... Once I knew where they were and what the extension was, I just made shortcuts into the Admin Tools folder so I can find them in the future. Was getting a little nervous there -- really didn't want to reinstall.

You will need to run the ADMINPAK.MSI package from the I386 folder on the Windows 2000 CD. This will install ALL of the admin tools for Windows 2000; this includes all of the server tools.
