I just got a Papst 80x80 case fan but do not have any kind of screws for it.
I intend to install it in the front of my computer, but do not really know how to attach it. Should I just screw into the fan plastic some screws through the holes that are in the case?

And should this fan blow in or out of the case?

If you place the fan in front of the case it should blow into the case. But if you don't have a fan in the back of the case it would give better performance to place it there, sucking air out of the case. The ideal setup is to have at least two fans with front = intake, blow air into the case, back = exhaust, suck air out of the case.

There should be holes in the four corners of the fan. If your case doesn't have a housing for a front fan, screw some screws though the mounting holes in the case and through the four holes in the fan.

Or even better, you could take either a dremel or a holesaw and make a duct in the front of your case, get a fan grill, and drill some pilot holes. That way it looks good and cools better than it would without the duct.

For easy mounting if there aren't any holes there just goto your local hardware store and buy sheetmetal self tapping screws. They'll drill themselves in.. just mount that fan like that. =). be creative!

Assuming that the front panel will cover up the grill work you might also consider using small plastic cable ties. They're cheap and you could easily nip them off and use a few more if you wanted to reconfigure.

Thanks everybody, I managed to attach it somehow, looks OK, works OK, so, I think it worked. And it is damn quiet, in fact, silent, expensive, compared to the other available fans, though. :)

I like to use rubber grommets between the fan and the case just to make sure there are no vibrations and possibly noise.
