How to immediately reduce eye strain?

I stare at a computer screen (as I'm sure most of us do) for 8+ straight hours a day, and sometimes they just start to ACHE. Is there any way I can reduce the pain immediately? Whenever it starts I look away from the screen for a bit, but it still hurts and I still have a bad headahce. :(

Are there any eye exercises I can do, or vitamins I can take?

Focus on something with text on it that is at least 6 feet away....or switch to an LCD.

To stop it immediately? I suggest rubbing your palms together until they are warm, then pressing ends of your palms gently against your eyes.

Your headaches are due to the eye strain, and a doctor once told me that you should find a blank white wall and move your eyes in circle eights against the wall. It helps relax your eyes believe it or not. I don't know if it was the placebo effect or what, but that seemed to help with my headache caused from eye strain.

Switching to LCD was a big help for me. Also, rest your eyes every 30 minutes or so by focusing on something far away, like out the window. Oh, and remember to blink!

1.) Sit or stand with your head facing forward
2.) Roll your eyes up until you feel a slight ache in your eyes. Hold that position for a second or two. Then release your eyes to their normal position.
3.) Repeat and release 5 times.
4.) Close your eyes for 5 seconds.

wash ur face with hot or cold water ( i personally prefer hot water ) and splash water in ur eyes..

Lower brightness of your monitor. Adjust your viewing distance slightly every couple hours.
