How to hook up a fan!!??!

Hey there,

I was currently running a front intake fan (Cre-Air) and a back exhaust fan (Antec Blue LED). I decided to go out and get another Antec one. So, now I have one front intake and two back exhaust. I am wondering...

I use the 4-pin connectors to hook up my fans. Does it matter which one you hook it up to out of the PSU? I mean, there are so many of them...can you hook fans up on the same cord that has a 4-pin connector for the drives? Does it matter which one they're connected to?

The fans seem to be running fine and the PSU voltage meters are exactly where they were before. There's not much difference with adding another back exhaust fan, so its kind of a bummer.

Thanks!!!!!

Does not matter what plug you use they all lead back to the PSU where they get the power from.

As Watagump said, it doesn't matter which connectors you plug your fans into. They all go to the same place.

AFA your airflow problem goes; the key to good case ventilation is not so much how many fans you have, but how much air can get into and out of the case. Y

You have more exhaust now b/c you added a second exhaust fan. OK, fine. But can your case LET IN more air? You may need to remove the front bezel and cut out the stock fan grill to open up the case in front of the intake fan. That helps greatly.

Alternatively, you could substitute a higher CFM fan as your intake, but opening up the case is a better idea.

Thanks for the info.

Why do those plugs come with a female AND male end to them? Just so you can have the option to hook stuff up more places? I think two of my fans use the same one somehow. I'm just surprised for some reason that I was able to just go in there, put the fan in the case, and hook up the fan to any old connector (male or female end) and have it work fine. I doubt myself a lot!!

Do fans use much power from the PSU?

Here's the temps and voltages...

CPU Temp= 31-35 usually
System 1 Zone = 28
System 2 Zone = 30

12 V = 12.25
5 V = 5.182
3.3V = 3.420

CPU Core= 1.506
CPU I/O = 1.510

The female and male ended connectors is called a "pass thru" connector. It is for hooking up another device w/o losing one of your precious PS outputs. Newer PSs have plenty of outputs but some older ones were very limited.

These connectors come in very handy; i.e. when two fans are right next to each other, like exhaust fans. One connector from the PS can power both.

That is the connecter on the 80 mm case fan I put in... it is sort of noisy... 25 db I think it said on the package.
