How to hide deleted messages using Outook with IMAP folders?

It really annoys me how the messages stays in the inbox with a line through it, i have one gig space on my school IMAP account, so i would like to keep my messages instead of purgeing them, but is it possible to hide the deleted messages?

 
1. Move them to the deleted items folder, then change your options so that folder isn't emptied when you exit the program, or

2. Create a new folder, and move the messages you want to keep to it.
 
Why do you want to delete them... but still keep them? If you don't want them, delete them. If you do want them, don't delete them - make a new mailbox and move them to it.
 
Doh! Found it.

Go to tools>options>maintenance and check the box for "purge deleted messages when leaving IMAP folders". Once you navigate to another folder your deleted messages will disappear.

Wish I had found that about a year ago... 🙁
