how to give "limited users" network read/write access

I installed a program that receives data over the network but it only works if I'm in the admin account... it gives an error if I use a limited account. Is there a way to give read/write access to limited accounts? For that matter, is there a way to allow access to limited accounts to only certain programs?

What program? What's the error exactly?

if it is Windows, AD, and NTFS, figure out what directory it is reading/writing from and give that account the correct security rights

In XP you can only give Admin or Limited rights... I don't see how to do anything else.. all or nothing.

What error do you get exactly? What program is it? What files is it having trouble getting to?

that is just plain wrong, unless you are talking about XP Home, which I do not have much experience with, and in which case should not be used on a network anyway

yeah, it's Home. I'm going to upgrade it to Pro, but in Pro how do you do it?

In Pro you disable 'Simple File Sharing' in the Folder Options dialogue box from the Tools menu in Explorer. From there you can right click on a file/folder and choose Sharing and Security (or Properties). Then switch to the security tab and modify the access rights with much finer control. You can give a specific user just read access, full control, read/write/modify.. And so on.

File permissions/security is very limited in XP Home. Not so in XP Pro.
